All procedures developed are to ensure student and staff safety. Typically, our afternoon car rider period is about 30 minutes to load all vehicles.

Morning Car Rider drop off: 

Students will not be allowed to leave the vehicle and/or enter the building until 6:50 am.

Wand Colors: Green = Unload, Red = Stop, Flashing Red/Green = Move Forward

Please watch the teachers at the speed bump and the middle crosswalk for their signal to unload, stop, or move forward.

As you pull around the corner, once you are between the 3rd crosswalk (near the 6th grade hall) and the speed bump at the main entrance, have your student(s) exit the car if the teacher is waving Green, signaling it's time for them to exit the vehicle.

To help us unload students from cars safely and efficiently, we're asking that all students unload between the 3rd and 1st crosswalk (main entrance).

Afternoon Car Rider pick up: 

Students are released to designated car rider areas at 2:30 each day, at which point pickup will begin.

If you have students in multiple grade levels, follow the protocol for the student in the highest grade level. For example, if you have a student in the 8th grade and one in the 6th, both the 6th and 8th grade students will follow the 8th grade protocol. 

• 6th & 7th grade:

  • The car rider line will condense from 2 lanes to 1 lane in the afternoon, before the last turn that puts cars in front of the school. 

  • Students will load between the 3rd (near the 6th grade hall) and the 1st (main school entrance) crosswalks.
  • Students are to stand on the sidewalk and look for their car.
  • Students are responsible for spotting their car, walking to the spot where the car will come to a complete stop, and loading.
  • Once the car is loaded, drivers may veer left onto the second lane to exit.
  • Students can only walk across the crosswalk at the front of the line when a staff member says it is okay to cross.
  • The drivers must pull up to the first crosswalk or a few feet from the bumper of the car ahead of them, and come to a complete stop before the student can approach. 
  • Drivers should NOT be on their cell phone while in the loading section, between the first two crosswalks.
  • Drivers should not be looking to their right, attempting to locate their student, for the safety of students and staff. The students should spot their car.
  •  Students who are horsing around in the car rider area will be disciplined. This may lead to a discipline referral. 

• 8th Grade:

  • The car rider line will enter the entrance leading behind LES and continue to follow the road behind the school. There will be a barricade located by the tennis courts, which will remain in place until all buses have cleared the back of LMS and a staff member removes it. 

  • Students will load between the 1st and last column in the bus lane.
  • Students are to stand on the sidewalk and look for their car.
  • Students are responsible for spotting their car, walking to the spot where the car will come to a complete stop, and loading.
  • Drivers will line up in the middle bus lane. 
  • The drivers must pull up to the last column, or a few feet from the bumper of the car ahead of them, and come to a complete stop before the student can approach. 
  • Once the car is loaded, drivers may veer left onto the second lane to exit.
  • Drivers should NOT be on their cell phone while in the loading section, between the columns.
  • Drivers should not be looking to their right, attempting to locate their student. The students should spot the drivers instead. 
  • Students who are horsing around in the car rider area will be disciplined. This may lead to a discipline referral. 
  • If you arrive after 2:50, you will need to pick up your student in the front car rider line.
